Another new series.
Q’n’A is shorthand for Quilting and Applique.
The Iron Lace refers to the inspiration for a large collection of designs based on the iron balustrades around many old buildings in Australia. I have taken photos of many different ones over many years, and started drawing them into Electric Quilt soon after I bought EQ5. My drawing skills needed practice … now I am redrawing them and making them useful!
Some blocks are appliques, and the same series of block designs are used for the quilting designs … though some boring fillers would be required in the background areas, using matching thread.
The one above is all applique, and I would limit the quilting to simple lines or massed repeated shapes.
Leave off some applique, and quilt the design … I like it … though I used the wrong corner quilting design. It should have the same extra bit as the one below.
I love this project file!
It is so much fun trying to find the best combination of applique and quilting!
Wow. This is going to be a fabulous series. I love all of these and you are right the “extra bits in the corner” make a big difference.

Glynis,
Thank you!
There are a lot of architectural details which are useful inspiration for a lot of art and crafts. I don’t try to copy them exactly, and often add a bit from one design with a bit from elsewhere.
