More of the collection of ten 9 patch blocks plus two colour variations simply combined with each other.
What I am hoping you will learn from this series is that there are a lot of 9 Patch blocks that are not known ….
… and a bazillion basically constructed quilts which have never seen the light of day …
… even virtually!
So why do we see so many designs over and over again?
There are another six designs in this series, and I have a collection of several thousand possible blocks to use … but I much prefer mixing them up more than just using them in pairs set alternatively. You may have recognized some of these mixed with applique, sometimes with the contrast varied within the block to create different looks, sometimes with applique blocks … and I am about to try some as quilting designs.
I hate hearing the phrase “”There is nothing new in the world.” There is plenty of new stuff, but you have to make an effort to find it.
Someday I will select another ten blocks and see what I find when they are combined, then I could alternate then with the original ten … nah, too many other blocks to try out at least once!

I really like the last one. Just think what turning some on point would do as well. I agree. There are lots of designs waiting to be made and “rediscovered”

I have turned these same combination on point … and sometimes the change makes it look like two different blocks.

With the straight settings just about all shared I will concentrate on the on point settings.

I will be hand quilting at retreat … have several long term projects so will probably bring the one that has been packed and ready to go whenever I want to quilt away from home for several years. It has been to Queensland, up the river twice, guild exhibitions and our retreats … it will be well traveled and have some stories to tell by the time it is finished!.
