Today’s designs use blocks I have been playing with over the last few days, adding bits, altering bits, removing bits, and then when I tried designing the first quilt discovered I needed to do more alterations. The name of the project file got the first name I thought of … Weird Weeds, which I guess describes some of the plants we grow because we like the colours they add to the garden.

I like the way these are turning out, and will have to use some of those curly bits in quilting motifs too … in between bouts of removing all too common weeds from my real garden!
I like both of these. The weed that is the bane of my garden is portulaca (also known as Purslane). It is impossible to kill by tilling or hoeing and must be pulled and hauled away. Even hanging a piece on the fence until it was totally dead looking it would still regrow if placed on dirt. Any leaf that falls off creates a whole new plant.
