Very interesting.

I started designing quilts with assorted blocks, but repeating most of the assortment of designs. Most of the quilts I made before Electric Quilt came into my life were all different blocks, in other words sampler quilts. Doing the same block over and over for a single bed was boring, let alone doing a queen size one.

Since EQ came along I have mixed a few of one block design, a few of another, etc. until I had enough for the size needed. Sometimes there are a maximum of 16 repeats of one block, but neither of the designs above have more than 12 repeats.

The first one has 12 of each of two pieced blocks, 8 of one applique, 4 each of three different blocks, and one for the centre.

The second one has 8 of one, 4 of four designs, and one in the centre.

I like making a variety of blocks, but it is easier to cut a few of each one than one of everything, and the bonus id a much more balanced design.

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

I really like the second one. The curves of the vines are so graceful.
