Love playing with beads … I fix, modify and make a few bits of jewellery from time to time, and have been known to add beads to a quilt, and of course, love appliqueing beads to quilts, both real and virtual.
Interesting, though the fans are not going to be very effective on a hot day.
Very interesting! Love it so far, but needs some work.
Judy, I really like the last bead design! 🙂

Laura,
Thank you … I enjoy designing them all, and they are easy to work with in real quilts too.

Is your bead block an original design or is it in the library ? I really enjoy seeing your works. Thanks, Barb

Barb,
I first saw a black and white photo of a String of Beads quilt using just one block when I was a very new quilter … 30 plus years ago. The block, and the quilt, was from the 1920s … all hand applique with turned edges. I started playing with the shape of the beads pretty much as soon as I saw the photo, and now have a large collection of block designs using that simple leaf shape bead … 2 inches long and about 1 inch wide. I have since expanded the collection to multiple bead shapes, and many more tangled strings of beads.
The few projects I have made came after the introduction of fusible webbings, and have both machine and hand stitched the edges, which makes for a relatively easy stitching rather than the hand stitched applique with all those points to turn under!
