Hexie Logs 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

Instead of starting with a square in the centre, start with a hexagon, then add some applique here and there … and look what can happen!

And some of the blocks have more than the usual strips in the lightest fabric.

In the design above some of the blocks are a much larger centre hexagon with just one round of dark strips around applique.

Some of the Hexagons don’t even have a strip added, just applique.

In this project file I am doing all the things I do to square blocks … use background fabric more than in the basic block, joining pieces together by removing seam lines before cutting the fabric … breaking the rules about how a particular block is pieced.

I can not pick a favourite this week … love them all.

The hardest part of making one of these is picking which one!

More Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

One of our Craft group members was talking about doing a hexagon quilt. Meanwhile I just started checking out your site. (I’d forgotten it was Wednesday ) Next thing, up pops these gorgeous hexagon Log Cabins. Now I do have food for thought for a new Log Cabin quilt. They are all very interesting.
