Once I learned to throw away designs using just one block a whole new world opened up. Adding some applique to blocks normally pieced adds even more possibilities.

Love the first two designs.

In a perfect world I would spend one day designing, and the rest of the week making the quilts … though the days would have to be long to make one like these designs!

I suspect that even in that perfect world I would be tempted to ruin the time table with a bit of time designing every day, which would soon blow the time table for making the designs into real quilts out of the water! I am not too sure which addiction is the best one, designing or making!

That’s the lot for this mid week log cabin retreat. I hope you enjoy examining the designs at least half as much as I enjoy designing them.

More Log Cabin Quilt designs next week.

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

    • Nola,

Thank you. I am already thinking about what other applique themes I can use! And I really have to get my sewing room clear of the mending/alterations/dressmaking/chair cover projects. In twelve months I think I am down about half way!

I am really liking these. I think my favorite is the fourth from the top. With the amount of quilts you design I do not think there would ever be enough days to make them all! I love being inspired by your designs.

    • Cindy,

The reason I share the designs is I know there is no hope of me making them all real … even one from each project file is not feasible. I do hope people are inspired to not make up a design that has been made up over and over again, sometimes even using the same fabrics if it comes in a kit. The design may be wonderful, but there are more wonderful designs just waiting to be found.

If nothing else, I enjoy finding a small part of the designs that were waiting!
