Virtual Challenge 2

Time for another Virtual Quilt Challenge, and as December is upon us I thought this months challenge should have a Christmas theme.

Many of the Christmas themed project files I have in my stash of virtual quilt designs are simply quilt designs which have been recolored in Christmas colours.

So, select one of your favourite designs and add some Christmas colours.

I have never used the exact fabric when designing quilts, even the ones I turn into the real thing. I add colours to the design first, using the ones from the Electric Quilt library and some downloaded from manufacturers sights.

Then I go out shopping for similar printed fabrics that match the colours in my design. I find this works well for me, though it does mean that I know pretty much nothing about one feature of EQ.

I often find good matches in my stash too … which I tell my husband is much cheaper than going shopping! I try distract him if he mentions that I recently went into a quilt shop and bought three metres of assorted fabrics!

Have fun turning at least one design from your original selection of fabrics to a more seasonal virtual project.

You are welcome to share designs on my Virtual Quilter Facebook page.
