Leafy Crossovers, and Accurate Applique

Leafy Crossovers

Not the most inspiring blocks or quilt design, but this project file was started purely to test some different methods of drawing really accurate applique blocks in Electric Quilt.

Using the accuracy tools I was getting them close, but I wondered if I could get them more accurate  … so tried a couple of ideas, and rejected them.

However, I had saved the best until last.

I found that if I added a diagonal line across the block, and selected that line along with pieces I wanted to copy and rotate around the centre I got them exactly where I wanted them first time, every time!

I have written and illustrated what is now my favourite method and you can download the PDF file from here …

Drawing Accurate Applique

I was working in Electric Quilt 8, but I think this will work with EQ7, maybe EQ6.

Now, when I want to convert applique block designs to use as quilting designs, they will match the original blocks perfectly.

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

Thank you for the write up on how to do this. I like the delicate look of this quilt.
