Log Cabin Leaf Central 26

Simple piecing, add applique.

Log Cabin Leaf Central 27

Love being able to add a bit of colour to what could be a dull design.

Love the layout above!

Interesting … might just play for a little while after I hit the schedule button to make some changes to this one to share later.

What other things could be appliqued to Log Cabin blocks?

Flowers, fruit, gnomes, birds, animals, sewing tools for quilters, butterflies ….

Need more time to play with more appliques on Log Cabin blocks.

More Log Cabin quilt designs next week!

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

    I love the combination Judy.
It has given me an idea to push my thoughts on a leaf design I am working on. Thank you!

It’s amazing how a few leaves really dress up a pattern! These are beautiful!

  3. Using applique would be a wonderful way to personalize a logcabin quilt for whomever you are making it for. I could see using this for the Quilt of Valor quilts for Canadian Armed Forces. Cabins and leaves go together naturally as well.

    • Cindy,

Yes, any Log Cabin quilt can have a little bit, or a lot, of applique added to make it personal … providing the centre square is larger than normal. Quilts of Valor could have maple leaves, or wings for the Air Force, anchors for Navy …
