I am wondering how I could make a 3D tree like this … have been wondering for quite a while, and no nearer a solution yet!
(As I typed that I got an idea … must make some notes … and sketches.)

I am a quilter who uses a computer program to design way more quilts than I could ever make in several lifetimes.
The quilts featured on this site have never been made. No stash has been harmed in the process.
This site is a chance to show the un-used and unseen designs to others, and occasionally share designs by making some EQ8 project files available by email on request.
Please note that my only association with the Electric Quilt Company is as a very satisfied customer.
I prefer to be in a tag free zone and award free area. I am just happy to know you came for a look.
You could use the technique of trapunto where you overstuff that portion of the quilt with yarn to give it a 3D effect.

Yes, definitely, but I was thinking of a free standing tree, and logic stepped in and ruined the idea I had as I was typing. But another idea is forming itself, involving dowels or broomsticks for trunks, and simple stuffed hearts turned up side down. Sounds easy, but there are usually a few problems along the way!

I have seen some 3D ones, and thought this might work with the upside down hearts, but they would turn every which way, and that could be interesting, but think now they need to be on a stick of some sort … or a group of sticks … and glued so they all face the same way.
I probably spend way too much time trying to work out how to do stuff like this!
