This is how I start a new project file now!

Adding the quilting early in the design process reminds me to leave space for quilting … we don’t need to piece or applique every inch of the quilt top, because we can fill those blank spaces with the best feature of quilts … the quilting itself.

The quilting is a required element to hold the layers together, but can be so much more.
