This projec file always reminds me that we make quilts to keep us warm.
The colours are certainly not pretty, but would appeal to a lot of blokes. (Blokes are the males of the human species in Australia.)
The one above is interesting, as are the next two.
I am not going to try to pick a favourite today …

November already. I have no favourites today either, but I agree with the colour not doing them any justice. Sorry, Judy. Least you can see the lights and darks enough and get the picture. And also I think you have to learn to look past the colours sometimes, (because in some magazines, they are just well, awful, but the quilt design is good) and see what the design is. That’s my thought anyway.

Yes, we have to look past the colours, and I find that easy to do if the design is good. If you can see the lights and darks in this series the contrast is in the right places, and that is what counts. Blue is not on my list of favourite colours, but I am amazed at how many blue quilts I love … but I can appreciate a design if the contrast is right.
I am not going through this project file to change the colours anyway … I do like them a bit … and there are over 500 designs in this project file. I have tried changing colours, but finish up with a mess, or double the number of designs I started with!

I like them all too but do have a favorite. The second one really appeals to me. I agree with the fact that many magazines have really wild color choices. To really get a good idea I like taking a picture and changing it to black and white that way the design shows up the best and you really see it and not the color choices. Much easier to picture your own colors then.

Taking a photo and viewing it in shades of grey is one of the best ways I know of to get rid of colour … or a piece of red cellophane or perspex works the same way. With your own work you can view your fabric choices to amkes sure the contrast is there before you start cutting fabric.
