OK, not so basic, but the layout is basic, and the colours are basic brights.
The sashing is basic, but invisible because it is the same colour as the background fabric in the blocks.

It is always amazing how placement of color can hide piecing lines and make it so much easier to piece. The applique if not quite so basic though. Love the layout.

I love hiding the piecing lines … sometimes using matching sashing to separate the block designs, as well as using it in adjoining pieces in a block to make piecing easier. Sometimes eliminating seam lines is a good idea, but not if the piecing then includes set in corners and too many points meeting!
