Started while demonstrating at our state guild exhibition a couple of years ago, but I have played with it several times since, and the collection of virtual quilts is growing in this project file.

I love this garden because I don’t get dirt under my finger nails when I play in it. I can also build some dream structures, grow plants which find our soil in our current garden challenging … and don’t have to pay for water to keep it alive!
Mind you, the real garden will get some attention in the near future as we bought a heap of empty pots on the weekend, perfect for potting up cuttings and seedlings.

I’m a lucky girl…I don’t pay for water; I have rights to a gravity spring. However, the downside is that I need to put in a holding tank. I don’t have enough water for house and garden (I have big garden areas.). I do like to get my hands dirty. LOL!
But you are right…a virtual garden allows for all sorts of plants and structures, even fantasy ones!

I am not sure what inspires what … does my real garden inspire the virtual, or vice versa? I think there is often some cross inspiration.
Here in my home state a new tax has just been imposed on farmers … taxing the water in the dams on their properties! Some of those dams may store water, but it isn’t used on the farms because they have moved from intensive market gardening to running stock or some such reason. Some of the dams stop flooding of local roads, and the water in the unused dams eventually either evaporates or finds a way through to the aquifer. Those faced with the new charges are threatening to remove the dams which could cause more problems to the local and state governments than they have bargained on!
Bores and springs are already subject to charges, though much lower charges than the water supplied by government from bores, rivers and dams, but then there are the very high charges for power to run the pumps to be able to use that water anyway.

I cannot understand government’s greed! Water is life! I guess whoever controls the water controls the population. Hmmmm….better not get me started on this topic!
