Penny’s Patch Play 5

Penny's Patch Play 5

Interesting.

In the next few days I will be busy pulling stuff out of my sewing room … I have discovered that there was an old cupboard under a pile of paint, and now that I have found it, I want it in my sewing room. This quilter’s patience is being tested by the drying time in cooler weather of the new finish on the cupboard!

    • Carol,

Don’t know that I love doing it … but love the results. My brother and his carpenter son were both impressed with what I found under the pile of paint … and it is looking better now!

  2. What is the new finish on the cupboard?

    • Laura,

The new, dry finish, after a nice warm day yesterday, is Danish Oil … which doesn’t hide what is underneath it, including the blemishes, but has added a nice glow to the hundred year old timber. I want a room which needs dividing so I can show off the back of the cupboard!

        • Laura,

As much as I love it, beautiful is not a word which describes it well. It was designed to be functional and it has over 100 years of character! Beauty is only skin deep!

As of this moment I am waiting on a couple of strong blokes to move it …. might have to wait a while, as there is a big job happening half an hour up the road. I can only move into my sewing room in an area which will be in front of the cupboard … two old chipboard shelves are occupying the space where the cupboard will go!

I really luck this one! Looks like a garden bursting into bloom. I LOVE the effect Danish Oil has on wood. Congrats on getting a new cabinet. I also like refinishing furniture and have done some really old dressers with Danish Oil and they turned out great.
