Back to the regularly scheduled program without giveaways.
I learned a lot from preparing the giveaways … and learned more about how to share them!
Thank you to those who visited, special thanks to those who commented.
The colour selection for today’s offering is not wonderful, but I do love the way the design works. If I changed the colours I would like to be able to keep a very similar level of contrast … because it is contrast which creates the patterns we see around us … colour is just a bonus.
Of course, with every quilt design there are alternative ways to use contrast … change that contrast even without changing colours and a design will look totally different, but it could also just look a mess.
Take a look at what happens to Snail’s Trail when Wayne Kollinger plays with both colour and contrast… and then to really make the head spin he combines the blocks to make bigger blocks.

Thanks so much for reminding me of Wayne’s blog! What a wonderful post on the ‘what ifs’!

Wow, I like that one. I like the colours, and I agree about the contrast in design. It can definitely make a big difference some times. (Wayne’s blog was different)

Marie,
I rather like it too … I used to make sure the contrast was clear in every block … but now i am liking the way blocks with low contrast ceate calm spots around the quilt.
Wayne’s blog was very different … never seen so many snail’s trails when I didn’t want to step on the snails! He makes me look at blocks in a very different way.
