Bunch of Beads 5 and 6

Bunch of Beads 5

This project file is from before I came out of the closet as a virtual quilter, when I was drawing the blocks I had designed on paper into EQ. Designed is probably not the correct work as I drew lines in squares and had to imagine the beads covering the lines. The ‘designs’ did not look very pretty, and I am sure that if I had shown them to others they would not have seen any potential in them at all!

Bunch of Beads 6

Some of the designs in those early attempts in EQ were less than wonderful in that the blocks were drawn with more enthusiasm than accuracy! But some of the designs are worth sharing.

Over the last few months I have spent a lot of time tidying up those early blocks, in this collection and others,so that when I get a design I think is worth becoming a pattern it is ready to go!

My drawing skills have improved as a result! I should make some time to draw some new designs while the skills are fresh!

PS.

There are now 3,980 designs … time to put the champers on ice … and finalize some freebies!

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

I really love the string of beads series! I really like the second one`s geometry!

    • Cindy,

Not sure that it would be one I would make, but it would be easy enough to do … just have to get the grid accurate … a little fudging with the beads if they are not quite perfect would be OK, though they would have to be reasonably well cut.

I like ALL of your quilts. I do not have EQ and can’t imagine doing what you do! You are a real design artist! Congrats on coming up to the 4,000 mark!

    • Averyclaire,

My interest in design began long before EQ came into my life, and I love the fact that I can show designs at their best and in full colour without wasting a lot of time. When people asked me what I was making all I could show was a few pages of scribble in many cases, along with a hand drawn page or two of the block pattern, or patterns.

Now I can write full instructions for a design which I have never made, and be as accurate as many of the patterns which are available, and complete with a pretty picture!

I really like these two designs, they are both very different. The first one’s different with its circular pattern, who know’s what you will come up with next Judy! And nearly 4,000!

    • Marie,

Sometimes that figure is a bit overwhelming, but there are probably just as many sitting in the EQ files in my computer as I have shared. When I started doing this I would never have believed it would reach this size!
