Clamshell Borders 1, 2, 3 and 4

Clamshell Borders 1

Found an old project file where I was trying to use Clamshells for a border … the real project has long been finished with borders which do not include any clamshells but the virtual project was still there just in case I wanted it again.

Clamshell Borders 2

Other than the first design the remaining designs show slight variations on a theme.

Clamshell Borders 3

I certainly don’t have any project in mind which might need one of these borders, and only one is ready to use anyway … the others need a fair bit of work on the corners!

Clamshell Borders 4

The skinny versions could be used without much further work … the others … well, they were an interesting and challenging exercise in using Electric Quilt!

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

Mmm, different. I like the first one, the colours as well. Would they be all applique?

    • Marie,

I like the first one too … the others are there mainly to show the wider borders, which just means more rows of clamshells. The shells can be pieced around those curves, then appliqued, though I think I would applique them all to the background row by row! Larger scale I would piece.

I really like the first one. Would be challenging to applique.
