Curved Cornerstones Introduction

Curved Cornerstones

Instant coffee this morning, and it worked almost instantly.

While I was uploading the quilt designs from the Cabin Fever project file I wanted to change some of the designs … I wanted less Cornerstones in some places … and I wanted Cornerstones where I had curves … and wanted to keep the curves.

So I drew the blocks above.

Then I tried each of them in the Barnraising setting.

I really like the curves outlined in a contrast colour.

The one above could be improved by making the contrast stronger.

More like the two above!

I really did not think I would be adding more blocks to my Log Cabin collection unless I borrowed some variations from Judy Martin.

(By the way, Judy has a new book of Extraordinary Log Cabin Quilts due to be released in November.)

Next week’s Log Cabin Mid Week  Retreat will feature the other half of the introduction, and the first of the Curved Cornerstone designs where they get mixed around a bit!

Now, I am hoping another coffee will get me through playtime with the new blocks in the Cabin Fever project file … but am a little concerned it might kick my butt in the direction of the cleaning which needs to be done.

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

Wow, the cornerstone ones are great. The lighter two are very different. What’s up with the first one may I ask?, either a very strong coffee fix, or are you just trying out the blocks. So many designs from one cornterstone idea, you will have fun from all of those………..

    • The first one is just the variations which are going to be added to the Cabin Fever project file. The great thing about the thick and thin blocks just reversing the colours creates quite a different look.

The light ones do look different … they are simply two of the light blocks in the first one set into a Barnraising. I love the second one … looks a bit like a spider web!
