Red and White Logs Intro

At the bottom of this post I have added a link.

I wasn’t too sure if this link should be accompanied by Log Cabin designs, or red and white ones!

So what can a virtual quilter do?

Start a Mid Week Log Cabin Retreat a day early!

Start with some traditional Log Cabin blocks, and start mixing up the position of the red and white fabrics of course.

Play a bit! Need to re-colour mor blocks though!

Play some more.

What about the other block variations?

WOW!

Slip in a few Thick and Thin Logs.

Still more variations to add, so not time to play yet!

Introducing some Courthouse Steps.

Chimneys and Cornerstones don’t want to be left out, which means I have to add another shade of red.

I think I would like the cornerstones to be a bit darker

Now check out the link that started all this!

Scroll down to the last quilt … and check out both front and back.

Show and Tell #3.

Something else to learn from this is that any variation of Log Cabin blocks need a nice, clean contrast between light and dark!

Get that contrast and you can design to your heart’s content.

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

    • Laura,

Thank you! I like the sixth one too, and I wasn’t trying to design something wonderful, just introducing the variations of the Log Cabin blocks.

The quilt in the link is rather impressive … especially the back!
