Nan’s Nine Patch Intro 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

Searching around for a couple of extra project files to find these last few virtual designs to share while I am away when I found a very old EQ5 file which had never been updated to EQ6 or EQ7 … until now.

Well, it skipped EQ6 altogether.

The blocks were transferred from my sketch books when I first bought Electric Quilt and most of them are drafted on a Nine Patch grid, but many pieces cross the lines which are used in a basic Nine Patch block …. and that opens up a lot of new possibilities for a creative designer.

I suspect that some of them were actually drafted on Four Patch grid, but I think I can live with a series using any of those blocks which don’t fit the ‘proper’ Nine Patch grid.

(That’s Nan’s rules, and they are different from Mum’s rules, and as I have been promoted since I did the sketches I am using Nan’s version of the rules!)

I am still sorting the blocks and fabric selection into some sort of order, and when I get them to my satisfaction I will offer a project file with a few designs, a few pattern sheets, so if you like this series introduction keep coming back to see more, and take advantage of the offer. You will have to wait a week or two until I unpack, wash clothes, weed the garden … and remember what I was going to do!

Then I will see what the blocks look like on point.

Lots of blocks, several borders, and Nan can do whatever she likes with them.

This will be fun!

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

    • Thank you, Betty.

The colours are way prettier than anything I am ever likely to use in a real quilt, but that is the great thing about using EQ … I can use any colours on a whim.
