Books and Botanicals Part 1

I have started a new project file in Electric Quilt 7 with the name of Books and Botanicals.

The book blocks are shown above …. these are blocks I drew up in EQ5 and EQ6 for some previous projects …. a couple of them are more than virtual!

(Yes, sometimes I really make quilted things in fabric! In this case it was a couple of wall hangings.)

In this project I am going to combine these book blocks with something a bit more flowery, because some of my favourite books are those with lovely botanical drawings and paintings.

I am easily sidetracked though, so the first thing I did while colouring the blocks was to design a wall hanging.

(I quite like the block sample above, but wanted some extra border detail.)

The book blocks are all pieced, and if making this into a real quilt I would make them from random strips rather than follow precise cutting instructions.

Ultimately, the book blocks are intended mainly to be part of the border, but for now they are the main feature.

I will show the developement of this design over time …. with another instalment tomorrow, then maybe once a week, depending on how quickly the design comes together.

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.
