Sewing Machine Day

Today is listed as Sewing Machine Day, but no one seems to know why this particular day was chosen.

I have a day out once a year to get my machine serviced about two hours away, and I refer to that as Sewing Machine Day.

The guy makes a three hour trip to get there so the least I can do is travel two hours.

The venue for the service is a quilt shop, but we won’t mention that might be the attraction.

However, the date varies, so it certainly isn’t something I write on the calendar until I get confirmation of the date.

Another date is also listed as Sewing Machine Day which coincides with the date the first machine was patented, which sounds like a good day to celebrate the sewing machine.

However, perhaps it would be a good idea to go hug your favourite machine today just in case it knows today is Sewing Machine Day.

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

Well, purrhaps I would – if I had a sewing machine! Pawsonally I think I should put my paws around my knitting needles instead.

I’m putting my applique 30’s top together today. I had to relearn my sewing machine and make two 3″ nine patches before I was comfortable with the 1/4″.

    Sigh…I L O V E Quilting 🙂
