Gran’s New Fan 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6

When I posted Gran’s Fan 18 I decided I really didn’t like the fabric choice, and so Granny got new fans!

The block changed too, from this ….

…….. to this

Gran’s Fan 18 looked like this ……..

….. and after the makeover ……

….. it looks like this.

I never knew my Mum’s Mum, but have been told she was a wonderful woman, and maybe she would have liked the new fans.

You won’t see any of Gran’s Fans …… from now on they will all be new!

Interesting, but far from my favourite variation!

Like the false border the outer fans create.

Oops! I couldn’t make up my mind which way to put the corner fans!

Like this one.

Another six added to the total number of virtual quilts!

I have reached 880 and there’s 120 to go.

  1. Ah, the new colors look so much more serene and elegant. I suspect my own gran would have prefered the first colors, though. Probably where I got my wild color preferences!

    • Liz,

I knew my one grandmother, and she liked some pretty weird colour combinations, but the little I know about the other indicates she was much more elegant.

My own favourite colour combination is pretty much anything with green in it! Turns out that Dad’s favourite colour is green.

They look very nice, very quiet, very elegant and feminine, you know I prefer bright colors, but these designs are spectacular.
If you are up for the next quilt along would be interesting to try one of these.
    Thanks and see you soon

  3. I like the new colors.

I like the variety of settings you’ve explored for the fans.

Comparing the old and new colors in the first setting I am once again amazed at the difference color makes. At first I didn’t realize that they were the same setting; it should have been obvious. The second one seems, in some way, better defined.

    • Wayne,

The same setting can be used over and over again ….. just change the blocks, the colours and fabrics. Like you, I experiment and see what I find, and most of the time it is good!
