The final installment of my play session using Star for Selina and variations, with narrow sashing with contrast sashing squares.
The sashing squares almost look like faint, distant stars.
The more blocks used in the setting, the more ways there are to combine a selection of blocks, which makes it much more fun to play with them.
I don’t think every design I create is wonderful, but it has got to the stage where I am happy to share most of what I do. Occasionally I find something which makes me say WOW!
I knew this next one was coming ….
This is the one I would make of all fifty of these designs … unless I wanted something smaller.
Which one would you make?
Remember all of this was because I wanted to play with one block and three variations of that block.
I could also have included pot holders, cushions, bags, sewing machine covers, placemats, table runners, bed scarves, table toppers, tablecloths, wallhangings, along with smaller quilts for little people.
If you have Electric Quilt, or any other program which can be used to design patchwork items, pick a block, and start playing.
And if you happen to be an editor or publisher go back to my rant about using the same few designs over and over.
At least, if you are going to repeat the same block, use it in different surroundings, sizes, shapes and projects with different end uses.
