Sunflowers and Mushrooms 26

Sunflowers and Mushrooms 26

It is always amazing to me that I can select some blocks, tie them together by using the same fabric in all of them and then by playing with where they are placed in a quilt design I can create dozens of virtual quilts.

The simplest way to unify blocks is to use the same background. Even if the blocks have no other unifying features using the background fabric in every block makes them fit together.

If you don’t have enough fabric to use in every block look for some similar fabrics in similar colours, and them use a variety of the fabrics in each block … works a treat in scrap quilts!

(Sometimes I actually play with real fabric and real thread, but that is a slow process because I prefer hand work … and life gets in the way too.)

I love some of the designs in this series, and like the rest enough to save them in the project file, but now I can see some changes I would like made to some of the blocks. More playtime in my future.

About Virtual Quilter

I am a quilter who designs many more quilts than I will ever make, and I am sharing one quilt design every day in Virtual Quilter. I also share my completed projects in Stuff-Ups, and Christmas decorations in Christmas Everyday of the Year.

Purr-fect for lying under – but you still have not put my portrait in there!
